WELCOME
TO THE 2006 TORPLEX
200Km.
The Torplex is an established 200Km Audax Randonee, which covers a distance of 207Km - 127miles, with variable terrain from flat and rolling coastal hills, to long and high moorland climbs, and some steep descents. ( Around 3400m of climbing) The event represents a moderate challenge to a fit cyclist who should be able to complete the ride well within the prescribed time limit of 13 hour - 20 mins. ( Speed 15 - 30kph) Historically the weather is usually good, often quite warm, with the need to watch out for the heat on the moorland climbs. Our controls are manned by friendly people, and there is food available along the route. The event HQ is at the Newton Abbot & District Recreational Trust, where there is parking, room to leave baggage, showers, toilets, a bar, and we have some catering providing hot and cold drinks and sandwiches and cakes throughout the afternoon and evening. |
