DISTRICT ASSOCIATIONS
TOURING COMPETITION:

The CTC is a touring organisation, but we do have competitions. The DATC is a National Competition, and Devon CTC have their own independant competion based on similar rules!
To do well in DATC you need to enter a wide range of events, the more different events you ride the more individual points you will gain.
If you duplicate events - i.e. ride several 100Km events, the points for each event fall as you duplicate.
Most events are non competitive, you just need to complete to get you points, but some events e.g. Treasure Hunts where there are winners and positions, then extra points can be gained for being the winner, or close to the winner.
You can also gain extra points (Nationally) by riding events ay from your local area.

So therefore for the maximum possible points, in theory you would need to ride a complete spread of events in all categories, with half of them being out of the area, and it would help if you won the competitive ones.

Think it sounds complicated? .... we haven't even begun!

WHAT ARE THE CATEGORIES?
This is fairly straightforward - there are six as follows:

Cat: a

25 -79 miles

40-127Km
Cat: b

80-119 miles

128-192Km
Cat: c

120-199 miles

193-320Km
Cat: d

200 miles and over

321Km and over
Cat: e

Competitive . i.e. Map reading, freewheeling, Treasure Hunts etc.
Cat: f
Off road events.

HOW DO YOU SCORE?

10 points are available for each NON COMPETITIVE event, i,e, Cat: a,b,c,d and f.
For each duplicated event there is a 2 point reduction in the consecutive event.
( e.g. 3 x 100Km - 10 points for the first, then 8 for the second, 6 for the third. 6 points is the minimum so for any other duplicated events you would still get 6 points).

AWAY RIDES: An additional point is available for away rides, i.e. 11 points for the first event.
