Devon DA 200 miles in 20 hours in 2000.

In the quiet of the night on Saturday 5th August 2000,  7 riders slipped away from the start at Kingskerswell for a 200 mile excursion to Bristol & back.  It was a balmy night, with temperatures around 16 degC, they were soon riding in shorts and tops, past the illuminated Powderham Castle to a deserted Exeter, and on through Cullompton & Bridgwater.......

Refuelling

Sustenance stop at the Esso garage in Bridgwater which was suffering intermittent power cuts, but it stayed on long enough for us to get Coffee, 3.30am

Zonked out on the A38

Daylight! Zonked out at the bootom of the hill near Axbridge, ready for the assualt on the hills to bristol Airport and - hopefully breakfast!

Arriving at the new terminal at Bristol Airport. There we found a Little Chef express. Not cheap but it served a need!   7.30am



  Sunday morning - Glastonbury

On A39 garage at Glastonbury (spot the Tor!). Cafe shut so garage sufficed. Richard Weaving was back in Wells taking in the scenery!

 

 

Entering Exeter

The home run. We passed South of Taunton,- lunch at Wellington, and this is Cowley near Exeter with time in hand.

 



Finished!

Four all finished, L-R. Mike Hunting, Graham Brodie, David Johnstone, Henry Foxland.  Mark Willams, Chris Bennett   and Richard Weaving were the other three. All finished with time in hand.
